Lotus Behavioral Interventions, a leading ABA therapy company in South Florida, is looking for undergraduate behavior analysis students at FIU who are interested in becoming Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and those with a desire to make a difference in the lives of children with autism.

 

All training is provided for free during a 1- month internship period leading to an opportunity for paid employment. No prior experience is required.

Their laboratory conducts comprehensive studies involving individuals across various age groups, encompassing both children and adults. Responsibilities:

Scholarship Opportunity

The IAC Charitable Foundation Scholarship Program has its roots in a fruitful, decades-long collaboration with local charitable partners. This program has been meticulously crafted to address the financial challenges encountered by college students. It extends scholarships to accomplished individuals who can demonstrate a genuine requirement for financial support.

 

These scholarships are allocated exclusively for designated academic purposes, following the precise guidelines delineated in the application. The final approval for the disbursement of scholarship funds rests with the esteemed selection committee.

Requirements: 

  • Federal Pell Grant eligible as indicated on your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR). [Following award notification, recipients will be required to provide a copy of their eligibility letter.]

VETERINARY INTERNSHIP

At Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, clinic interns will have the opportunity to learn and assist in all parts of wildlife rehabilitation, from admittance to release. Interns will help rehabilitation staff in multiple areas of the daily operations with a focus on the care of orphans and general husbandry. Daily activities include but are not limited to: restraining animals for exams, administering medications, observing intake exams, observing necropsies, gavage feeding, feeding infant animals, creating enrichment, and cleaning inside/outside enclosures. 

To be eligible: 

  • Applicants must be 18+ and a current college student or recent graduate to apply. You must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 months and at least two full shifts a week from 9AM - 5PM.

 

Intern Sessions:

  • Winter: November -February.  Deadline: October 1st.

  • Spring: February-May.  Deadline: January 1st.

  • Summer: May-August.  Deadline: April 1st.

  • Fall: August-November.  Deadline: July 1st

PHYSICAL THERAPY INTERNSHIP/VOLUNTEER 

Dade Physical Therapy is looking for volunteers who will have the opportunity to assist the physical therapy staff in daily tasks such: the preparation of therapy rooms, elevating the patient experience and aiding in areas of daily operation. Volunteers will be able to observe, assist, and learn from the therapist-patient interactions in the clinical setting.

 

Applicants interested in the field of physical therapy are encouraged to apply; however, health majors are welcome. The site is willing to work around a flexible schedule if needed.

COASTAL WETLAND ECOLOGY RESEARCH CENTER

The U.S Geological Survey is recruiting a current undergraduate student to assist with several ecological research investigations including projects focused on: mangrove forests responses to sea-level rise; coastal wetland responses to global change; landscape connectivity within the context of human-built infrastructure; and carbon storage and cycling in cypress forests. Some of the work will be field based, primarily within wetland ecosystems in South Florida.

PAID META ANALYSIS LAB

This position will be responsible for assisting the lead PI with data collection for a meta-analysis. The RA would be able to work virtually at their own pace, and during their own hours. No prior experience is necessary. The RA will be able to participate in the data collection, analysis, and publication process for this research.

NEURAL DYNAMICS OF CONTROL LAB

Neural Dynamics of Control Laboratory, directed by Dr. George Buzzell, is currently seeking research assistants. They are currently running an in-person study in which EEG data is collected from participants while they perform cognitive and social tasks. They are seeking meticulous, organized students to assist with data collection and coding.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling participants

  • Conducting research visits

  • Maintaining tidy data

  • Preparing behavioral data for analysis

 

For committed volunteers, there are opportunities to get involved in data analysis or manuscript writing, as well as to assist with other research taking place within the lab.

 

Applicants must be able to commit to at least ten hours per week for a year. No prior EEG experience is required as you will be trained to collect EEG data when you begin your work as a research assistant.
